Mission and values of Shared Squared

Shared Squared helps organizations that innovate in the “collaborative consumption” space. Shared Squared members include established and startup for-profit companies, not-for-profits, and anyone who supports the concepts of collaborative consumption or sharing. Shared Squared believes that sharing is a business model, a program for resource conservation, and an ethical practice. Shared Squared serves organizations building themselves around any of these definitions of sharing. Shared Squared believes that sharing, as a model both for resource consumption and for resource investment, is being made mainstream by advances in technology. The internet is lowering the costs, and increasing the availability, of tools for coordination and collaboration. Shared Squared believes that this will transform critical sectors of the economy, strengthen communities, and create disruptive opportunities for new business development. Shared Squared’s help for organizations executing their vision of sharing will include: Education for members in best practices, with a special focus on startups that will benefit from mentoring, networking and modelling of excellence in execution Advocacy on behalf of member organizations with governments, regulators and incumbent institutions to promote a business, social and civic environment that encourages sharing Coordination of efforts to communicate the benefits of sharing to the wider public A clearinghouse of information on products and services offered by member companies: “one stop shopping” for consumers, governments and businesses who want to increase the “sharing quotient” of their consumption or investment.
People are renting out their apart-ments to help offset high rents and meet fellow travelers! Opportunities, from tools to wifi abound as we learn to access more of what's available in our community and get more out of what we own.
